Comfort over anything

Comfort over anything

If you ask me anytime, I would say ‘comfort over anything’. So today, I am bringing out my most slouchy, comfortable and cozy items, which have been perfect for this gradually building colder month.

The things I look forward to in this colder season are just coming home, wrapping myself up in a big duvet or blanket and just watching telly with a hot mug of coffee or tea. Oh, how you find happiness and comfort in just doing simple things - and I tend to realise this more in winter. Anyway, my point is, today’s outfit is all about that, except you will be walking around all snuggled up instead of staying in. I do believe - no, I know for sure - that I felt that warmth, comfort and coziness in this outfit over the past few days. And coffee? Well there is always a place for that. Today I went for this chunky, woollen, high neck oversized jumper which was perfect for me to add more layers underneath. And guess what? I actually did add another black jumper underneath! I paired my jumpers with these khaki harem style trousers, which again had enough space for me to wear warm leggings underneath. Yes, winter is all about layering and being a walking cushion, which I was when I end up adding another coat at the end. I finished off the look with my maroon boots. I also decided to go for a similar colour palette and have found it quite interesting lately. I hope you like the look.

Hint of Berry

Hint of Berry

I will be honest and say that sometimes the easiest thing to do in life is just picking out black and white clothes, well for me at least! It’s not always easy to work the colour palette all the time and this is when I have my easy access and my monotones - and the good part is that I can get away with this timeless trend.

OMG T-shirt, Topshop (sold out)
White kimono blazer, Primark (similar)
Black sleeveless leather jacker, Primark (similar

When it comes to limited palette, it’s always better to work in layers and textures. I believe that way, it visually creates interesting silhouettes. And today was the day for them. I started with a basic white t-shirt, with black letters ‘OMG’... and OMG this is actually one of my favourite t-shirts, even though only the 'M' is showing in the picture. I layered my long Kimono blazer to build up the shape and my sleeveless leather jacket to again add different texture and edge to the outfit. The long white blazer perfectly shows the division of shades with my black skinnies - just what I was going for - as well as demonstrating the level of different textures. I added a hint of berry to give just a bit of colour to my look, which I chose to finish off with black Chelsea boots. I hope you like the look.

Lavender

Lavender

Now that the holidays are here, I like to be in that holiday mood.  What I love about holidays is that you get to dress up, the feeling of spending time with your loved ones, eating good food until your button bursts out and, yeah that’s right, staying in a food coma. It’s just the whole atmosphere that I describe as happiness.

Black Pumps, Primark
Lavender/light blue earrings, Accessorize

Unlike the obvious sparkles, glitters, Christmas reds and glammed up looks, sometimes it feels good to lay all of your cards on the table and go for something subtle. Also, going out with my friends I was already seeing a lot of sparkles on their outfits and the decorations in every street was good enough for me to admire them in a softer attire. Yes, all this time I was just trying to describe my outfit. When I saw this dress on Sheinside website I was quickly drawn in by this elegant, subtle lavender colour. Honestly, it looked almost edible but I decided to wear it  … the intricate lace details were just everything. The cutouts at the front were a plus and instantly made it irresistible to me. I paired the dress with matching earrings and black pumps. I also kept the make up quite subtle to compliment the outfit.

Fallen

Fallen
I’ve been seeing knee/thigh-high boots everywhere recently and finally I went and got myself a pair. Honestly, I haven’t worn knee high boots for the last 6-7 years. I guess every winter my shoe purchases have been ankle boots. So I was very excited to style these.

Knee/thigh-high boots, what can I say? They are higher than your average boot and potentially twice as sexy. They are one of the classic and statement pieces that everyone should own and I proudly own them again after many years but who the hell cares? It’s never too late because fashion is evolutionary, not revolutionary, as we all have noticed certain trends comes back. Anyway, my outfit today wasn’t much of an effort even though it looks like it. It’s these boots, they literally jazz up any simple outfit, adding a bit of sass. I paired them with thigh high grey wool socks, which are so warm, and to top it up I was also wearing a pair of tights. For the top I picked out my Ralph Lauren jumper, which is my personal favourite, and paired it with Zara skorts. I hope you like the look.

Pink Dusk

Pink Dusk
To be completely honest, I’ve never been a big fan of the colour pink. Growing up I was more into tomboy and punk/goth looks, but then I guess everyone goes through that teenage phase experimenting with different looks. I always thought girly pink didn’t match the way I looked. Honestly, time flies in a blink of an eye and how things change so much because now I have pink clothes in my wardrobe for crying out loud!

Pink is not the colour I usually go for on my first instinct - I have never worn fully pink but then again small progress is better than no progress. So I decided to pick out one pink item and build today’s outfit around that. Black is my comfort zone when it comes to trying different styles, that’s why I decided to pair this black knitted top with my pink skirt. Sometimes I also like to keep everything else neutral to keep the focus on the main piece, which is this light pink skirt from American Apparel. I decided to add a statement piece necklace and frankly I think any jewellery stands out on a black canvas. Finally, wearing double tights always does a good job keeping my legs warm and I completed the look with these big old boots. I hope you like the look.
